A 3 of listings on Intel's documentation site mayprove that an 8-nub Coffee Lake chip is in the works, which would provide a potential difference response to AMD's own 8-core, 2nd-gen Ryzen CPUs.
Chip watchers posting to Reddit caught thread of trey posts on a Coffee Lake S documentation page, referring to something called a "Coffee Lake S 8+2" chip. Since the current Coffee Lake chips height out at six cores and twelve threads, the natural speculation is that Intel has an 8-burden knap waiting in the wings.

Intel has several posts about somethign called a "Coffee Lake S 8+2" on this foliate.
The documentation covers such technical elements much as details of the physics promotion of such a chip, as wellspring as the DDR4 remembering that could be put-upon with IT. Downloading the actual text file requires an Intel developer login, sol details of the purported 8-core chip—or what the "+2" refers to—couldn't live inveterate, though the second number prospective indicates the chip's integrated graphics capabilities.
AMD's Ryzen chips accept always offered much cores than Intel's own Core i7 or Core i9 chips; in this case, eight cores to Intel's six. AMD fresh released details along its minute-gen Ryzen processors, and surprise! The Ryzen 2 maintains its core advantage. Such an advantage would disappear if Intel discharged an octonary-core Umber Lake chip, course. (The Coffee bean Lake-S chips name to Intel's mainstream desktop Coffee Lake chips.)

Unfortunately, the technical documents don't offer any clues as to the rumored Z390 chipset, which has surfaced equally a potential addition to the Coffee Lake chipset roadmap that new received its personal additions with the Intel H370, Intel H310, Intel Q370, and Intel B360. As the name suggests, the Z390could make up a high-carrying into action chipset that would mesh with the eight-core Coffee Lake S parts—Oregon IT could just be another livid whale for hopeful enthusiasts to hunt.
We've asked Intel for scuttlebutt, and we'll update this post if we hear hind.
What this means for you: Although Intel recently provided all sorts of news on its Coffee Lake plans, Intel's roadmap exists in a sieve of Wyrd chaos where all sorts of chips now declension under the thick heading of its eight-gen Core chips. As some have renowned, it's doubtful that even an eight-core Coffee Lake chip would evenfall under the family of a "ninth-gen" Core processor, if nothing other because the referring page characterizes it as an "8th Generation Intel Core" chip. Withal, a more direct head-to-school principal battle between AMD and Intel only benefits the consumer, and that's what we're rooting for.
